Physiology tutoring for Santa Rosa students
Knowing a definition is a starting point. Using it to explain what happens when a variable changes takes a different kind of practice. Anthony helps college human physiology and A&P students in Santa Rosa work through mechanisms, organize cause and effect, and explain their reasoning from memory. Sessions follow your current course materials and can include membrane transport, feedback loops, cardiovascular or respiratory topics, and graph interpretation when those are part of your class. One-on-one tutoring is $50/hour. Online tutoring is available, with in-person options in the North Bay for students at any school.
Follow one change through the mechanism
A useful explanation connects the starting condition to each consequence. We can take a mechanism from your lecture materials, identify what changes first, and trace the next step without skipping the link between them. Then we change the starting condition and test the explanation again. This gives you practice with the same concept in different questions, while keeping the level of detail aligned with what your course actually covers.
- State the changed variable and the conditions held constant.
- Explain why each step follows from the previous one.
- Distinguish the immediate effect from a later regulatory response.
Make feedback loops explainable
A diagram with arrows is most useful when you can explain what each arrow means. Using a loop from your course, identify the variable being regulated, the information being detected, and the response. Then describe how that response affects the original change. If a link is difficult to explain, it becomes a focused study target. Tutoring can help you separate a missing term from a missing causal connection.
Read the graph before choosing an answer
For graph or data questions, start with the axes, units, and conditions. Describe the visible change in plain language before explaining the physiology behind it. We can practice comparing conditions, supporting an answer with the information shown, and noticing when a claim goes beyond the data. For written questions, we can turn that reasoning into a concise response with a clear prediction and a mechanism that supports it.
