Build an identification routine

Study for the way you are tested. When your course asks for identification, practice naming structures before revealing the answer. Start by orienting yourself: what region, view, and neighboring landmarks are visible? Then identify the target and explain which features distinguish it. Sessions can use your permitted lab images, structure lists, diagrams, and study guides to turn a long list of names into a manageable set of retrieval tasks.

• Practice with labels covered and views mixed together.
• Separate an orientation mistake from a naming mistake.
• Compare similar structures side by side, then identify them separately.

Give histology its own practice time

Histology can require a different approach from learning a model or diagram. Instead of memorizing a single familiar image, describe the visible organization and the features that support your identification. Use the examples your instructor provides and compare images that you tend to confuse. In tutoring, we can slow down that comparison, make your reasoning explicit, and build a short list of features to check on the next image.

Your practical preparation and lecture preparation may need different activities. Bring your current study guide and upcoming deadlines so we can choose what to practice first.
